The happenings may have started long ago, but their malevolence and frequency in recent times has attracted the attention of the Government. The Ministry of Defense (MoD) wants to keep this out of the public eye. It does not fit the current narrative and therefore has no place in modern society. But these cases affect real people who cannot be silenced easily. Discrediting the victims' families and associates will have the opposite affect. This is a problem.
The MoD have sourced funding for a 'project' they call the 'Fringe Services Division' (FSD). The FSD sits within the police force and utilises experts in the field of paranormal and investigatory law enforcement. Their purpose is to investigate criminal cases that lie on the brink of science. They will perform their role within a shroud of secrecy to ensure society is not unduly affected.
